The BRICS Award in Yemen stands out as one of the BRICS awards worldwide and is distinguished as the sole recognition dedicated to BRICS affairs in Yemen. This award is characterized by its unique focus within the university setting of BRICS countries. Founded by Advisor Dr. Fouad Al-Ghafari, President of the BRICS Youth Parliament, the award has been successfully implemented under his guidance.

The original idea for the award emerged on October 8, 2016, under the initiative of Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Maqaleh, as an integral part of the Al-Fajr Award. This award centers around BRICS-related works involving creativity and the economy, marking a significant milestone in promoting innovation.

The award’s nomenclature evolved from “BRICS Gold Medal” to its current form in 2021 when the award’s founder received three international awards from key BRICS system countries. This recognition reflects the importance and status of BRICS Yemen over its seven years of activity, despite adversities and the brutal siege faced by Yemen.

The BRICS Award is granted to outstanding personalities nationally and internationally who have made a significant mark in the BRICS arena. Decisions on the awards are made in collaboration with international partners, the award founder, and members of the organizing committee. November 23 has been designated as the BRICS Day in Yemen, commemorating the Day of BRICS Awards in Yemen.

The organizing committee, responsible for coordinating the activities of the BRICS Award in Yemen, plans to hold future ceremonies in various governorates of the Republic or in allied countries. The development of the award, driven by the BRICS Youth Parliament, aligns with its parliamentary essence, as evidenced by the annual Kramer and Bassi Award announced by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in May 2021.

This recognition not only underscores the importance of BRICS Yemen on the international stage but also highlights its commitment to creativity, innovation, and strengthening international relations amidst significant challenges.
